Operational Research Interventions for Reducing
Maternal Morbidity & Mortality in MP:-
This
project was sponsored by DANIDA supported MP Basic
Health Project-III. In this project we first
assessed the causes associated with maternal
morbidity & mortality in District Rajgarh in MP. A
scientific study was designed in two parts. First
part was the retrospective study of maternal deaths.
The verbal autopsy of the family members was carried
out to know the possible causes as retrospective
study. The roles of different stake holders were
identified and the action points were summarized. In
the second part it was the prospective study where
all the pregnant cases were registered & the data
pertaining to prenatal, natal & post natal were
collected. In the event of death of any of the
registered case we had adequate & accurate data to
assess the causes of death. These findings were used
to sensitize the PRI members. They were then asked
to find out the solutions for the causative factors.
The action plans to resist the same were drawn by
them only. Which has ensured their commitment for
implementation. Here our approach was IIDM model of
empowerment. (Year 2003-2004).
