Evaluation
Study of Integration of, NLEP Functions with
General Health Systems:
This study was sponsored by DANLEP, a unit of
DANIDA and supported by Dept. of Public Health
and Family Welfare, Govt. of M.P. The
Directorate has integrated the National Leprosy
Eradication Program functions with General
Health System in 8 districts. In 6 of these
districts more than one year was over for the
amalgamation of functions. This was implemented
as a result of Health Systems Research Study
carried out at Gunder Dehi Block of District Durg. The objective of this HSR study was to
assess the level of change, the problems in
implementation and the impact of integration on
the delivery of services. The findings of the
study has helped the department in modifying
amalgamation exercise in whole of the state.

Nutrition Survey in MP (ICDS‑II Evaluation):
The department of Women and Child Development
was carrying out various interventions for
improvement of nutrition status of the community
& creating awareness for the same. To carry out
these interventions effectively the department
wished to carry out base line study & impact
analysis of these interventions. Data was
collected from 17 blocks in MP. Quantitative &
qualitative research methods were used to
collect data about the nutrition status of 0‑6
years old children, pregnant & lactating
mothers, adolescent girls and the anganwadi
centers. The project was sponsored by World Bank
and GOI.

Community Need Assessment Study for Prevention
of HIV/AIDS/STD in Slums of Bhopal Town:
This project was sponsored by MP Aids Control
Society with funding support of World Bank &
NACO. It was aimed at imparting knowledge among
resident community volunteers (RCV) to convince
their neighbors about safe sex and other
preventive measures against HIV/STD & AIDS as
peer counselors. This has also empowered the
local folk artists in the field who performed
number of street plays & performances to create
awareness on subjects in their vicinity. This
project also facilitated the development of
messages by RCVs and deciding the mode and
places of dissemination. For designing
appropriate interventions the communication
needs of the target audience was assessed, using
quantitative & qualitative data collection tools

Preparation of Program Implementation Plan for
WATSAN Project for Nasrullaganj Block:
This project aimed at facilitating the
assessment of community needs regarding water
supply, sanitation, health & hygiene by the
community itself. This was achieved by adopting
PRA exercises and trend analysis in 198 villages
of the project Block. This project was sponsored
by Dept. of Public Health Engg., Govt of MP
with funding support from UNICEF/SIDA.

Operational Research Study to Reduce Maternal
Mortality in Rajgarh:
Rajgarh district of MP has higher rate of
maternal mortality. Therefore an operational research
study conducted in two blocks of Rajgarh
district to find out the causes of maternal
deaths. The study aimed to find out causes of
high maternal mortality in first phase and in
second phase interventions were carried out for
reduction of maternal deaths. In first phase we
used various qualitative research tools to
collect data regarding maternal deaths. The
project was sponsored by Department of Health
and Family welfare, MP with funding support
from DANIDA. This was an operation research
study.

End‑Line Evaluation Study of RCH Sub District
Project at Mizoram:
The Department of Public Health and Family
Welfare, Govt. of Mizoram was implementing
Reproductive Child Health Project for safe
motherhood and infant care. To find out impact
of this scheme an end‑line evaluation was
conducted in four districts of Mizoram. The data
was collected from head of the households and
the currently married mothers having at least
one child born during January 2000 to April
2004. The project was sponsored by Department of
Health and Family Welfare, Mizoram and Govt. of
India.

Health, Education, Environment and Development
Project (HEED):
Pollution generated from the fuel used for
cooking leaves great effect on the family
members. To find out the results of the
pollution a study was carried out in 4 villages
and two urban blocks of Bhopal and Raisen
districts. The data regarding occupation,
education, economic, health, Marriage and other
social customs, fuel used, agriculture patterns,
facilities available at villages, educational
and medical institutes were collected from head
of the households and a women of the household
in between age of 15‑49 years. The project was
sponsored by UNDP and was carried out jointly
with National Council for Applied Economic
Research New Delhi, and University of Maryland
USA, TERI New Delhi.

An Evaluation Study to assess the Impact of
teachers on Enrollment,
Achievement & Drop out in School Education in
MP:
This was a research study to evaluate the causes
of low achievement, high drop out, low
enrollment of the children and Gender Issues in
the villages of MP. The study was conducted in
District Chhatarpur & Dhar in M.P., Rajiv Gandhi
Prathmik Shiksha Mission, Govt. of MP sponsored
the study under DPEP Project of the World Bank.

C. Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences
Evaluating level of Skill Adoptions for Training
on, Agriculture Subjects (MAPWA Project):
This study has been sponsored by DANIDA, MP
(DANISH Embassy). DANIDA has supported
agricultural skill up‑gradation interventions in
9 districts by Dept. of Agriculture. In six of
the districts the interventions have been
initiated for more than a year. The Dept. of
Agriculture & DANIDA wished to evaluate the
level of adoption of skills and the gaps in
approach. The focus was on the qualitative
research tools for data collection.

Training Need Assessment Study for ILDP:
This project has been sponsored by DANIDA. The
DANIDA was supporting Integrated Live Stock
Development Project (ILDP) for Dept. of
Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Govt. of MP and
Chattisgarh at Bastar. The Project aimed its
intervention for upgrading the skills of the
tribal community required for development of
livestock at Bastar. Our study identified the
knowledge gaps among the change agents by using
different research tools.

Impact Evaluation of Rehabilitation Program for
Disabled Persons in M.P. (Chunouti):
The study has been sponsored by Ministry of
Empowerment & Social Justice, GOI for evaluating
the Chunouti Program of Govt. of MP. The
Chunouti Program has been launched by Dept. of
Panchayat & Social Welfare, Govt. of MP for
rehabilitation of disabled persons in the state.
The study has evaluated the efficiency &
effectiveness of the program interventions. It
has also found out the gaps & the lessons learnt
from these interventions. The Chunouti Program
was to continue for 2 more years in the state.
Therefore this study has also brought out mid
term evaluation aspects.

Community Information Need Assessment for
e‑governance in Bhopal MP:
M.P. Agency for Promotion of Information
Technology (MAP‑IT), an autonomous body of
Government of MP, under project Bhojpatra wanted
to know the information needs of the Community regarding various civic services being provided
by government and private sectors. The Institute
has carried out a scientific study and assessed
various services being sought by the citizens of
Bhopal and thereby the relevant information was
assessed. Data was collected from 12 wards of
Bhopal city, The respondents were among all
sections of society such as professionals,
government & privates servants, vendoers &
businessmen etc. The study outcome has helped
the web site designers to prioritize the areas
for computerization and on‑line services.

act for eradication of Beggary in state of MP is
implemented since 1973 but till today beggary is
a great social problem. A study was carried out
to assess the causes of beggary and scope for
their rehabilitation. The study was sponsored by

Social Justice, Go MP.

these training programmes in sample districts
